A GOOD LENGTH - OUT NOW

Thrilled to be able to announce that the album is OUT NOW! Available to stream or download in all the usual places. Info on physical copies, coming soon. I would like to thank the incomparable Ray Fury, my musical partner in crime, whose artistry, musicianship and support in this en devour has been without bound. I would also like to  extend my sincere gratitude to those incredibly talented and generous musicians who joined me as, very special guest performers, to record for this project, Mark Mochan, Vince Hall and Marco Giacomelli, who are all guitar virtuosos in their own right. Finally, what can I say to the incredible, Tony Franklin, one of my most favourite and undoubtedly one of the best bass players on the planet, he hasn't just played with some of my musical heroes, he is one of my musical heroes and a thoroughly lovely bloke! Most honoured he took time out of his very busy schedule to lay down a very groovy bass line, on the album's opening track, I'll Be Lovin' You. Can't wait for you all to hear it and the other 7 tracks that make up, A Good Length!

Rachel's voice stands like a house and she feels equally at ease in the swampy and retro-sounding song "I've Got To Love You" as in the impressive and dedicated to Robert Johnson "The Devil Blues". "Father Forgive Me" has such a pleasantly incantatory groove that the clothes hang around your body like clammy rags after listening.
What is certain is that she has a great voice and knows how to use it live, enough ingredients for a steaming set of blues with influences of classic rock.

Vocals so powerful, so deep and so gripping, they blew my mind.

MUSIC from the band

AS HEARD ON THE LEGENDARY RADIO CAROLINE, JAZZ FM AND OTHER AMAZING STATIONS SUPPORTING THE BLUES AROUND THE WORLD.
Never has another style of music so completely captured my attention, my imagination or my soul in the way that the blues has.  For me the blues is a way to express, in a very un-obscure and honest way that which you need to say. I think the blues is a way of life. If I am happy I listen to the blues, if I am sad I listen to the blues and if I just want to really feel something I listen to the blues.

Rachel M, Barbarella And The Boogie Blues

Music is the universal language of humanity, and the blues is its most honest and raw expression.

John Mayall

The blues tells a story, every line of the blues has meaning.

John Lee Hooker

If you’re comfortable in life, I think the blues might evade you. Suffering is something holy.

Peter Green

Singing about your sadness unburdens your soul.

BB King

When I first thought about singing the blues I hesitated, how could I even begin to approach the music written, performed and mastered by such greats as those who I listened to in awe, but there came a point when I could no longer only listen, I had to try to express my own kind of blues with as much honesty, passion and purpose as is in me. However do not think I remain anything other than humble as I offer great reverence to so many blues giants who have held me up, consoled, inspired and enthralled me over the years.

Musical Influences and Inspirations

Over the past eight or nine years, since I first began experimenting with making my own music, I have explored several different musical genres, continuing to push myself outside of my comfort zone, as I sought to express myself through song. I grew up within a family that were not instrumental or creative within music, but they did love it, so I was exposed to many types of music from an early age. I vividly remember listening to and loving, those great, old, rock and roll records, from people like Fats Domino and Little Richard, I was obsessed with The Beatles during my teens and later, David Bowie, but it was really the first time that I heard, Otis Redding that I thought I wanted to be a singer. Later singers like Sam and Dave, Wilson Picket, Tina Turner and Janis Joplin, all made quite an impression on me. Even before I played a little guitar myself I was enthralled with those guitar heroes like Hendrix, the guitar was always the one instrument that got me really excited about music. Through listening to Eric Clapton, I was led to John Mayall and then Alexis Korner, which ushered me down a kind of wormhole that changed my musical tastes and ultimately my approach to making music forever. I became enchanted with artists like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf,  Elmore James, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker and the three Kings, and then the great blues infused rock of the late sixties and early seventies, most especially Peter Green, Rory Gallagher, Led Zeppelin and of course Free, who are probably, along with Bad Company two of my favourite bands. Certainly Paul Rodgers and his incredible vocal and writing ability impacted and inspired me in a most profound way, of course his Muddy Water Blues, tribute album, is a phenomenal homage to my favourite blues artist, featuring so many epic guitarists, it is such an incredible and exhilarating expression of the music I love, it would definitely be one of my desert island discs. If you haven't heard it then I highly recommend you take a listen.
